Louis Hayes

A prolific and supremely swinging hard bop drummer. Hayes is best known for his long and influential tenures with two of the greatest small groups in jazz: the Horace Silver Quintet (1956–1959) and the Cannonball Adderley Quintet (1959–1965). His crisp, driving, and interactive drumming provided the propulsive energy for a string of classic albums, making him one of the most recorded and respected drummers of the hard bop era.
