Biography
Memphis-born trumpeter Louis Smith (1931-2016) made an immediate mark with his 1958 #Blue Note Records# albums 'Here Comes Louis Smith' and 'Smithville', then chose education over the road, teaching in Ann Arbor for decades. He recorded prolifically in later life for #SteepleChase Records#, his hard-bop playing warm, lyrical and unmistakably rooted in the Memphis tradition of his cousin *Booker Little*.
