Biography
Madredeus are a Lisbon ensemble formed in 1985, blending fado, Portuguese folk and modern minimalism. Founder Pedro Ayres Magalhães remains at their centre; singer Teresa Salgueiro defined their classic era from 1987 to 2007, when albums such as 'O EspÃrito da Paz' (1994) and the Lisbon Story soundtrack 'Ainda' (1995), released by #EMI#, won them worldwide audiences and sales above three million. Beatriz Nunes has sung with the group since 2012.
