Biography
Mick Karn was a Cyprus-born, London-raised bassist whose melodic fretless playing defined *Japan* albums such as 'Tin Drum' (1981). He formed *Dalis Car* with *Peter Murphy*, reunited with his bandmates as *Rain Tree Crow*, and recorded widely as a solo artist before his death in 2011. His sculptural approach to the bass, treating it as a lead voice, influenced players from *Porcupine Tree*'s Colin Edwin onward, and his memoir was published shortly before his death.
