Biography
Pat Martino was a formidable American jazz guitarist known for his incredible technical command, advanced harmonic concepts, and a fluid, hard-bop-influenced style. He began his professional career at age 15, quickly becoming a sought-after sideman for organists like *Jack McDuff* and *Don Patterson*. After establishing himself as a leader with albums like 'El Hombre' on #Prestige#, his career was catastrophically interrupted in 1980 by a brain aneurysm that left him with amnesia. Through a remarkable recovery process that involved studying his own recordings, he relearned his instrument entirely, making a triumphant return and recording acclaimed albums for labels like #Blue Note# and #Muse#.
