Biography
American guitarist Tommy Bolin (1951–1976) packed a remarkable career into a decade. After *Zephyr* and a star-making turn on *Billy Cobham*'s 'Spectrum', he joined the *James Gang* for two albums, then replaced *Ritchie Blackmore* in *Deep Purple* for 'Come Taste the Band' (1975). His two solo albums, 'Teaser' and 'Private Eyes', blend hard rock, funk, blues and jazz fusion, and his fluid, echo-laden playing remains hugely influential. He died in Miami in December 1976, aged twenty-five.
