Biography
Voivod is a progressive thrash metal band from Jonquière, Quebec, formed in 1982 by Denis 'Piggy' D'Amour, Michel 'Away' Langevin, Jean-Yves 'Blacky' Thériault and singer Denis 'Snake' Bélanger. Their fusion of thrash, progressive rock and science fiction themes, heard on 'Killing Technology' (1987) and 'Nothingface' (1989), made them one of the first Canadian thrash bands to succeed internationally. The current lineup of Bélanger, Langevin, guitarist Daniel Mongrain and bassist Dominic Laroche continues the band founded by D'Amour, who died in 2005.
