Biography
William Basinski is an American composer from Houston, Texas, classically trained as a clarinetist and saxophonist, who specialises in compositions for tape loops and drones. His best-known work, 'The Disintegration Loops' (2002-2003), was created as deteriorating tapes of his early loop recordings physically crumbled while being transferred to digital, and it became a defining work of ambient music. He releases music on his own #2062# label and continues to compose, perform and create film and installation work internationally.
