Biography
African Head Charge are a psychedelic dub ensemble formed in London in 1980 around percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah and producer Adrian Sherwood of #On-U Sound#. A revolving collective rather than a fixed band, they fuse Rastafarian drumming, chant and experimental dub across albums from 'My Life in a Hole in the Ground' (1981) to 'A Trip to Bolgatanga' (2023). Their records remain landmarks of experimental dub and the wider On-U Sound catalogue.
