Biography
Bethlehem is a German dark metal band formed in Grevenbroich in 1991 by Jürgen Bartsch, Klaus Matton and Andreas Classen, with Bartsch its only constant member until his death in 2025. Its debut 'Dark Metal' named the genre, and albums such as 'Dictius te necare' and 'Sardonischer Untergang im Zeichen irreligiöser Darbietung' built a depressive black and doom metal style around themes of suicide and madness. On #Prophecy Productions# the band later incorporated industrial elements on 'Schatten aus der Alexander Welt' and 'Mein Weg', before returning to its early sound on 'Bethlehem' and 'Lebe dich leer'.
