Biography
A versatile and soulful tenor saxophonist from Chicago, Clifford Jordan possessed a robust tone and a style deeply rooted in the hard bop tradition. He made his mark in New York in 1957, recording his debut 'Blowing in from Chicago' for #Blue Note# with fellow tenor *John Gilmore*. A consistently excellent and reliable sideman for artists like *Horace Silver*, *Max Roach*, and *Charles Mingus*, Jordan was also a respected bandleader.
