Biography
Four Tet is the primary recording alias of Kieran Hebden, a highly influential English electronic musician and producer. First gaining notice as a member of the post-rock band *Fridge*, Hebden's solo work as Four Tet bridges experimental sound design with dancefloor appeal. His landmark 2003 album 'Rounds' is a key text in the 'folktronica' genre, blending organic instrumentation, field recordings, and glitchy digital manipulation. Over his career, he has moved from the sample-heavy textures of his early work on labels like #Output Recordings# and #Domino# to a more club-focused sound on his own #Text Records# imprint, while engaging in notable collaborations with artists like *Burial*, *Thom Yorke*, and jazz drummer *Steve Reid*.
