Biography
Memphis-born tenor saxophonist Frank Lowe (1943-2003) carried the fire of free jazz from work with *Sun Ra* and *Alice Coltrane* into his own classics 'Black Beings' (1973) on #ESP-Disk# and 'Duo Exchange' with *Rashied Ali*. A late flowering on #CIMP# confirmed a singular, soulful improviser. He also led the multi-reed SaxEmble in the 1990s and recorded movingly through illness in his final years..
