Biography
John Cooper Clarke (born 1949, Salford) is an English performance poet who broke through on the punk circuit with machine-gun comic verse. His #Epic# albums with *The Invisible Girls*, including 'Snap, Crackle & Bop' (1980), took poetry into the charts, and a later revival restored him as a national institution. His live readings, delivered at breathless speed in trademark dress, remain a fixture of the British festival and theatre circuit.
