Nick Lowe

Nick Lowe

Nick Lowe is an English singer, songwriter, and producer who was a pivotal figure in the pub rock, power pop, and new wave scenes of the 1970s. As the in-house producer for #Stiff Records#, he shaped the sound of punk and new wave, producing landmark albums for *Elvis Costello* and *The Damned*. His solo debut, 'Jesus of Cool', and his work with the bands Brinsley Schwarz and Rockpile established his reputation for witty, incisive songwriting. His best-known songs include "Cruel to Be Kind" and "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding," famously covered by *Costello*. His later work embraces a more mature, roots-oriented sound.
