Biography
Spanish flamenco guitarist from Algeciras who modernised the form and brought it to global audiences. His decade of albums with *Camar贸n de la Isla* and records such as 'Almoraima' (1976) and 'Siroco' (1987) mixed flamenco with jazz and classical harmony, and his trio with *John McLaughlin* and *Al Di Meola* produced the best-selling 'Friday Night in San Francisco' (1981). De Luc铆a's speed, precision and emotional depth made him the reference point for flamenco guitar until his death in Mexico in 2014.
