Biography
Phish is an American rock band from Burlington, Vermont, formed in 1983 and built around guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman and keyboardist Page McConnell, who joined in 1985. Fusing rock, funk, jazz, bluegrass, folk and psychedelia, the band became a defining jam band, famous for extended improvisation, a different setlist every night and large self-run festivals. Little radio play never slowed a following built by word of mouth and freely traded live tapes. After a 2000 to 2002 hiatus and a 2004 split, Phish reunited in 2009 and remain a major live draw.
