The Avalanches are an Australian electronic music group renowned for their intricate and joyful sample-based style, a genre often dubbed 'plunderphonics'. Formed in Melbourne, they achieved global cult status with their debut album, 'Since I Left You', a masterpiece crafted from an estimated 3,500 vinyl samples. After a sixteen-year hiatus that only grew their legend, the group returned with the psychedelic follow-up 'Wildflower' in 2016. Now a core duo of Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi, they continue to release acclaimed work, including 2020's 'We Will Always Love You', blending disparate sounds into a cohesive, celebratory, and nostalgic whole on labels like #Modular Recordings# and #Astralwerks#.
