The Cult

- Type: Band/Group
- Country: United Kingdom
- Born: 1983 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
- Active: 1983 - present
Biography
Formed in Bradford in 1983 by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, The Cult moved from gothic post-punk — 'Dreamtime' and 'Love', with 'She Sells Sanctuary' — to stadium hard rock on 'Electric' and 'Sonic Temple'. Despite splits in 1995 and 2002, the Astbury–Duffy partnership has kept the band recording and touring ever since, most recently with 'Under the Midnight Sun' (2022), a return to their gothic roots.
