Warne Marsh

A tenor saxophonist and a key disciple of the Lennie Tristano school. Marsh was known for his long, weaving, and rhythmically complex improvisations that prioritized melodic invention over blues-based phrases. His intellectual style made him a major, if underrated, figure in Cool Jazz.
