Biography
Deafheaven is an American band formed in 2010, celebrated for pioneering the 'blackgaze' genre by fusing the ferocity of black metal with the atmospheric textures of shoegaze. Initially a duo of vocalist George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy, the band expanded to create a sound defined by blast beats, harsh vocals, and soaring, melodic guitars. Their 2013 breakthrough album, 'Sunbather', released on #Deathwish Inc.#, achieved widespread critical acclaim, propelling them beyond the metal underground. Subsequent albums like 'New Bermuda' and 'Ordinary Corrupt Human Love' on #ANTI-#, and 'Infinite Granite' on #Sargent House#, have seen them explore post-rock, psychedelia, and dream pop, cementing their reputation for emotional depth and sonic innovation.
