Earth

Biography

Earth is an American band recognized as a primary pioneer of the drone metal genre. Led by guitarist Dylan Carlson, the group's early work, particularly the seminal album "Earth 2: Special Low-Frequency Version", established a blueprint for the style with its minimalist compositions, heavy distortion, and repetitive, slow-tempo structures. After a hiatus, the band re-emerged with a sound that incorporated elements of country, folk, and jazz-rock, while retaining their signature meditative and atmospheric core. Their profound influence is seen in bands like *Sunn O)))*, who initially formed as a tribute to Earth.
