Biography
Swallow the Sun is a Finnish melodic death doom metal band from Jyväskylä, formed in 2000 by guitarist Juha Raivio. Fronted by vocalist Mikko Kotamäki, the band built its reputation on albums such as 'The Morning Never Came' (2003), 'Ghosts of Loss' (2005) and 'Hope' (2007). Later records, among them the triple album 'Songs from the North I, II & III' (2015) and the Finnish number one 'When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light' (2019), deepened their mix of doom, death metal and gothic melancholy. 'Shining' followed in 2024.
