Biography
The Church is an Australian psychedelic rock band formed in Sydney in 1980, led from the start by bassist and singer Steve Kilbey. The interplay of guitarists Peter Koppes and Marty Willson-Piper defined the early sound heard on 'Of Skins and Heart' and 'The Blurred Crusade', and 'Starfish' (1988) brought worldwide success with 'Under the Milky Way'. Drummer Tim Powles joined in 1994. After the departures of Willson-Piper and Koppes, Kilbey continued with Powles, Ian Haug, Jeffrey Cain and Ashley Naylor, releasing 'The Hypnogogue' (2023) and 'Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars' (2024).
