The Necks are an Australian avant-garde trio known for their hypnotic, long-form improvisations. For over three decades, the lineup of Chris Abrahams (piano), Lloyd Swanton (bass), and Tony Buck (drums) has remained unchanged, creating a unique chemistry that defies easy categorization. A typical piece, whether live or on albums like their debut 'Sex' or the acclaimed 'Unfold', begins with a simple motif and gradually evolves over an hour into a complex, trance-like sonic tapestry.
