Al Green

Al Green is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer, celebrated as one of the last great Southern soul singers. He rose to fame in the early 1970s with a string of hit singles on #Hi Records#, including 'Let's Stay Together', 'Tired of Being Alone', and 'I'm Still in Love with You'. His work with producer *Willie Mitchell* defined the Memphis soul sound of the era, characterized by smooth, lush productions and Green's incredibly versatile voice, which could shift from a sensual whisper to a powerful falsetto. After a life-altering event in 1974, he became an ordained pastor and focused on gospel music, winning numerous Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
