Grouper

Grouper

Grouper is the solo project of Liz Harris, an American musician who creates deeply atmospheric and enigmatic soundscapes. Her music blends ambient, psychedelic folk, and drone elements, characterized by ethereal, reverb-drenched vocals, layered tape loops, and sparse instrumentation. Harris achieved wider recognition with her 2008 album, "Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill", a work that balanced ghostly melodies with lo-fi textures, cementing her status as a singular and influential voice in experimental music. Subsequent releases like the dual albums "A I A: Alien Observer" and "A I A: Dream Loss", and the piano-focused "Ruins", have further explored themes of memory, landscape, and emotional intimacy.
