Biography
Mercury Rev are an American band formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1989. Their early albums 'Yerself Is Steam' (1991) and 'Boces' (1993) offered experimental psychedelic rock, but after singer David Baker left, Jonathan Donahue and Sean "Grasshopper" Mackowiak led the band toward the lush, melodic sound of 'Deserter's Songs' (1998), a critical breakthrough that made them unlikely pop stars in Britain. Later records include 'All Is Dream' (2001), 'The Secret Migration' (2005), 'Snowflake Midnight' (2008) and 'Born Horses' (2024).
