Biography
Formed in Seattle from the ashes of *Mother Love Bone*, Pearl Jam became a defining force of the 1990s grunge movement. The band synthesized the stadium-scale force of classic rock with the raw, introspective ethos of alternative music, anchored by the potent baritone of vocalist Eddie Vedder. Their 1991 debut 'Ten' became a cultural touchstone, launching them into global stardom. Characterized by a dynamic sonic evolution, a noted resistance to conventional industry pressures, including a famous boycott of Ticketmaster, and a career-long dedication to extensive live performance, they have cemented their status as one of rock's most enduring and influential ensembles.
