Biography
Rainbow was a British hard rock supergroup formed in 1975 by guitarist *Ritchie Blackmore* after his first departure from *Deep Purple*. The band's initial lineup featured vocalist *Ronnie James Dio* and other members of the band *Elf*, creating a powerful blend of hard rock and neoclassical metal on albums like 'Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow' and the seminal 'Rising'. Over its history, Rainbow underwent numerous personnel changes, with Blackmore as the sole constant. Subsequent eras featured vocalists *Graham Bonnet* and *Joe Lynn Turner*, steering the band toward a more commercial, radio-friendly rock sound with hits like 'Since You Been Gone' and 'Stone Cold' for the #Polydor# label before disbanding in 1984.
