SALEM

SALEM is an American electronic music trio widely recognized as pioneers of the witch house genre. Formed in 2006, the group originally consisted of Jack Donoghue, John Holland, and Heather Marlatt. Their sound fuses the slowed-down tempos of chopped and screwed hip-hop with elements of dark ambient, shoegaze, and industrial noise, creating a bleak yet ethereal atmosphere. Their influential debut album, 'King Night', released in 2010 on #IAMSOUND#, was a landmark release for the genre. After a nearly decade-long hiatus, the band returned in 2020 as a duo with the album 'Fires in Heaven' on #Mad Decent#, reaffirming their unique and challenging sonic identity.
