Depeche Mode

Formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980, Depeche Mode emerged as pioneers of the British new wave and synth-pop scene. [17, 18] Following the departure of initial songwriter Vince Clarke, the band’s sound was redefined by Martin Gore’s introspective and darker compositions, moving from pure electronica to a more complex, atmospheric style. [4, 12] They integrated rock textures with industrial-tinged electronics, shaping a signature sound built on synthesizers, samplers, and Dave Gahan's baritone vocals.
