Biography
Guided by Voices is a famously prolific indie rock band from Dayton, Ohio, led by the inexhaustible songwriter Robert Pollard. Known for their lo-fi aesthetic and a torrent of short, powerfully melodic songs, the band emerged from obscurity to become underground legends in the 1990s. Their landmark albums 'Bee Thousand' and 'Alien Lanes', released on labels like Scat and #Matador#, are cornerstones of the indie rock canon, blending British Invasion pop, punk, and psychedelic rock. Despite multiple lineup changes, breakups, and reunions, Pollard has kept the band a vital creative force, influencing countless artists with a DIY spirit and a seemingly endless supply of rock anthems.
